In the owner’s words

I first came to Latvia once a year, as a trip. The trips became more and more frequent — until one day Rīga felt like my own. My second hometown.

Now I want to give something special back. First things first: authentic Chinese specialities to eat and to drink. And more to come…

DAQIN is a family shop — I run it together with my son.

The first goods I brought over were for my son — so this place would taste like home to him. Then friends began to come, and there were more and more things: one bag, then a box, then a whole shelf.

We spend our summers here, for the fun of life. The free way of living, the scents and the beaches are real. As real as this store.

One more thing: on the map, Latvia has always looked to me like a bat. When I see it, I know I am home.

In the historic pavilion

Āgenskalns Market has fed Pārdaugava since 1898 — the renovated pavilion now hosts craft bakers, coffee roasters and DAQIN’s red sign.
